Election turnout hits record level in Santa Barbara County
An amazing turnout has been reported by the Santa Barbara County Elections office as it certifies the mid-term results.
The November 6, 2018 election day had crowded polling places, citizens requesting registration forms and voting on provisional ballots under a new law, and lines of cars at a special drop off spot in front of the elections office near Goleta.
Santa Barbara County Clerk-Recorder, Assessor Joe Holland sent the certified election results to the Secretary of State Wednesday.

The county says 157, 697 ballots were counted. That amounts to a turnout of 72.53% Both are records.
This election had 1228 conditional voter registration ballots, which indicates a sweeping interest in the final days of the election campaigns for voters to get registered, obtain a ballot and vote by the deadline.
Those ballots were counted after the registration form was approved.
