Police nab suspects in Santa Barbara shooting and robbery

Two men accused of being involved in the shooting at Cleveland Elementary School and the armed robbery at Evolution Lending in Santa Barbara in November are now behind bars.

Santa Barbara police say 29-year-old Carpinteria resident Esteban Nieto Oseguera, and 29-year-old Ernesto Alonso Solis, a transient out of Ventura County, were arrested after a months-long crime spree that spanned Santa Barbara and Ventura counties.

The two men are linked to multiple armed robberies including at Evolution Lending on North Milpas Street and a vehicle theft in Santa Barbara, according to authorities who say Solis is also accused of an armed robbery in Santa Barbara’s Westside in late October 2018.

Oseguera and Solis were arrested in the city of Ventura on Nov. 27, 2018, following an investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies.

The two men are being charged with attempted murder, robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, and auto theft.
