Cars spin out on wet roads during late night rain

California Highway Patrol officers created a traffic break on the S101 on Wednesday night after hearing about a spin-out near the San Ysidro Road.

The driver managed to exit the freeway. She said she was going slow when she hit a puddle.

Officers said the single-car accident is a reminder to slow way down during a downpour and be aware of the possibility for puddles on roadways,

Meanwhile ,people in Montecito started lining their driveways with sandbags.

Abe Powell of the Bucket Brigade volunteer group had a pile of sandbags ready to protect his home.

Powell said he hopes people in recent burn areas will evacuate without hesitation. He also recommends signing up for alerts.
