DMV to extend hours during holiday season following busiest days of the year

The Department of Motor Vehicles wants customers to know that the day before Thanksgiving and the Monday after the holiday are their busiest days of the year.

Lines didn’t deter people from visiting the DMV in Santa Barbara on Monday.

Scott Ross said it only took him 45 minutes to get stickers for his new personalized license plate.

Other people in line outside were able to watch people taking their driving tests.

To reduce foot-traffic the DMV plans to be open the first three Saturdays in December at more than 60 offices.

They also plan to open an hour earlier at 7 a.m. at more than a dozen locations.

Some customers will be able to use a Self-Service Terminals to renew registrations. The kiosk can also print license plate stickers.

Some customers can save time by taking care of their DMV business online at dmv.ca.gov.
