Police investigating armed robbery at business on Santa Barbara’s Eastside

Santa Barbara police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at Evolution Lending located at 401 N. Milpas Street Tuesday morning.

The robbery occurred at about 11:20 a.m. The suspects wore ski masks and used a firearm, according to police. They got away in a white Chevy Colorado truck traveling westbound down Gutierrez Street.

Authorities say the suspects stole an unknown amount of cash from the business as well as several personal items from a female victim.

Sgt. Rashun Drayton said responding officers were on scene in one minute of the 911 call.

While information from the victim was being broadcast, officers went through nearby streets, alleys and other locations trying to find the vehicle. They also reviewed surveillance cameras.

Evolution Lending is a licensed lender specializing in short-term financial needs. The Milpas Street location is the only branch of three that offers online loans, according to their website.

Access to the business is from the back of the building and not a visible location from Milpas.

No arrests have been made. Anyone with information on this crime is encouraged to call the Santa Barbara Police Department.
