Hundreds fed early Thanksgiving dinner in Santa Barbara

A Tuesday night Thanksgiving dinner in Santa Barbara brought about 500 people to the Boys and Girls Club on Canon Perdido Tuesday night.

Most were families. Some were homeless. Others were neighbors who came for the spirit of the holidays with those who live and work in the area.

The event was hosted by the club staff and many sponsors including Montecito Bank & Trust.

The meal was prepared by the staff and children who worked in the large on site kitchen. The menu was turkey, ham, potatoes, corn, rolls, desserts and beverages.

Each table was decorated with holiday designs, thank you signs, and flowers.

The event went for about two hours, and all of the food was served with only a few pans of leftovers.

Last week the Westside and Goleta Boys and Girls club held their meals last week.
