Hancock hangs on to beat San Bernardino Valley, win American Championship Bowl

While it looked like a cakewalk early on, the Allan Hancock Bulldogs had to hold off a late rally to beat San Bernardino Valley College 38-35 to win the 2018 American Championship Bowl at Righetti High School on Saturday night.

The Bulldogs (10-1) led 35-7 midway through the 3rd quarter but needed to survive a late offensive outburst from the Wolverines. Quarterback Thomas Carr threw for two touchdowns and ran for one as well, while Ryheem Skinner ran for 130 yards and a pair of scores.

Armando Herrera threw four touchdowns for the Wolverines (9-2), three of which coming in the second half.

The Bulldogs also played in last year’s American Championship Bowl, losing to Southwestern College. This marks Hancock’s first bowl win since 2011.
