Arroyo Grande porch theft caught on tape

Arroyo Grande Police are on the lookout for a robbery suspect and suspect vehicle caught on tape by Ring security cameras stealing packages on the doorstep of a home.

It happened Tuesday afternoon at a home near the intersection of Halcyon Road and The Pike in Arroyo Grande.

The Ring security cameras recorded, with audio, the suspect walking up to the front porch of the home with the getaway car waiting in the street.

The video clearly shows the suspect opening up the white picket fence gate, grabbing the packages, running out to the waiting car and stuffing the stolen packages in the trunk.

The suspect vehicle then begins to drive off as the robbery suspect jumps into the front passenger seat and closes the door.

The entire incident lasts less than 30 seconds.

The property owner and robbery victim has taken to social media to share the video of the crime in hopes of tracking down the culprits.

“You know around the holiday time there’s a lot more packages going out, you’ve got people following these trucks and pick things up and in our case we were actually shipping items out”, said victim Jeff Madden, “the real sad part is that had it not been us it could have been somebody else. There’s a lot of families out there that are one paycheck or one loss away from being homeless, you know, so it could have been far worse than this, but either way, I want this guy.”

The video captured by the Ring security cameras provides the best description of the male suspect the suspect vehicle.

“This is a really tight neighborhood right here and everybody does look out for everybody”, Madden said, “unfortunately it was a time when nobody was home but usually there is somebody around and it happens, it doesn’t matter where it’s at, it’s rampant everywhere. I don’t think its any place with more traffic or less traffic.”

Anyone with information about this crime or others like it should call the Arroyo Grande Police Department at (805) 473-5100 or your local law enforcement agency.
