Restaurant workers serve up gourmet food to raise money for new home following fire

Roommates who lost almost everything in a Santa Barbara house fire put their culinary talent to work on Monday night at The Black Sheep restaurant.

Alexander Zubia and his brother and a dishwasher spent the evening working up a sweat in the kitchen during a pop-up event they named “Displaced Taste.”

Zubia said they salvaged some cooking tools for the feast.

Diners paid $60 for six courses and drinks.

The money will help them cover the first and last month’s rent and the deposit needed for a new place to live.”

The dinner was so filling some of the customers said they decided to take their desert course home.
