Stolen vehicle chase in Oxnard leads to crash and arrests

Two people were arrested early Friday after crashing a stolen vehicle in Oxnard.

According to the Oxnard Police Department, officers responded to a call of a stolen vehicle in the 2800 block of Rose Avenue just after 12:30 a.m. Friday. Officers spotted the stolen Mazda MX-6 traveling north on Rose Avenue, but the Mazda refused to stop. This led to a chase which was eventually called off due to high speeds.

As officers continued checking the area, they discovered the Mazda had crashed at the intersection of Cesar Chavez Drive and Rose Avenue.

Two people were arrested at the scene including a female juvenile who had allegedly been driving the stolen car. She was arrested for unlawful taking/driving of a motor vehicle an evading police officers. This was the second time in less than a week that the female juvenile was arrested for the same crime.

An adult passenger was also arrested for obstructing the duties of a police officer, police said.

The Oxnard Police Department urging neighbors to keep their cars locked following a recent uptick in stolen vehicles in the area.
