Police investigating attempted abduction in Santa Maria

Santa Maria police are investigating an attempted abduction in the area of Rose Street and Christina Street in the city of Santa Maria.

The incident occurred on Oct. 29, 2018, shortly after 9 a.m. Police officers found a teenage victim who told them someone followed her on her way to school in a black truck and tried to grab her, the Santa Maria Police Department said.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male adult, 5-feet 8-inches tall, with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a black hat, black jacket, blue jeans, and dark colored boots. Authorities released a police sketch of the suspect hoping someone in the community might recognize him.

The suspect’s truck was described as having a large white sticker with writing on the back window.
