Highway pursuit ends in Santa Barbara Highlands neighborhood

—UPDATE—

A petty theft turns into an all-out police pursuit from Ventura to Santa Barbara.

Police say 28-year old Jenna Dickman from Santa Barbara was swerving on Highway 101 in Summerland when officers ran the vehicles license plate numbers on Friday. The vehicle’s numbers matched a petty theft crime in Ventura just hours before.

Officers signaled her to pull over. Dickman complied at first but then threw out the stolen property and sped away.

California Highway Patrol officers began a pursuit for Dickman from Summerland to Santa Barbara. Dickman got off at the Bath exit and drove up the Mesa and turned on Miramonte Drive. She attempted a U-Turn at the end of the street but was blocked in by officers.

Police say an officer had to open the door and pull Dickman out of the car.

Dickman has been charged with DUI of drugs, assault with a deadly weapon and felony evading.
