Police: Santa Maria Wells Fargo bank robber is ‘Flip Bandit’ wanted out of San Diego County

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the robber involved in Friday’s Santa Maria bank robbery.
The identity of the man is unknown at this time, but authorities believe he is the same man that was involved in several bank robberies in the Santa Diego area.

A man wanted for several bank robberies in San Diego County known as the “Flip Bandit” is the same bank robbery suspect that struck the Wells Fargo on South Broadway in Santa Maria Friday morning, authorities confirm.
The robberies out of San Diego County go back to early September 2018 and involve all Wells Fargo banks. In all of the cases, the FBI says the robber presents the teller with a note demanding money from the bank.
The suspect is described as a white male, between 50-60 years old, about 6-feet tall with an athletic build, and wears a hat and sunglasses to cover his face during the robberies.
The FBI says that on Oct. 16, 2018, the “Flip Bandit” was seen driving off in a black 2018 Nissan Sentra with no license plates.

INITIAL INFORMATION
Authorities are currently investigating a reported bank robbery at the Wells Fargo bank in Santa Maria.
The suspect got away with several thousands of dollars, according to emergency traffic radio.
The bank robbery was reported shortly before 10:30 a.m. Friday at the bank located at 1450 South Broadway.
No weapons were shown during the robbery but appears there was a note passed along from the suspect to the bank teller, according to authorities.
Police describe the suspect as a white male adult in his 60’s wearing a green cap, white buttoned-up shirt, a tank top underneath, and blue jeans. They released a surveillance photo of the suspect.
