Man arrested after robbing business in downtown Ventura

A local man was arrested after robbing a business in downtown Ventura Thursday afternoon.

According to the Ventura Police Department, a suspect entered a business in the 100 block of West Main Street just after 1:30 p.m. Thursday, took merchandise from the store and left without paying. A store employee then confronted the suspect outside of the store and that’s when the suspect brandished a knife and fled.

Officers located the suspect, 28-year-old Tyler Miskiewicz in a nearby neighborhood and arrested him. Miskiewicz was booked into the Ventura County Jail and faces felony robbery charges, police said.

A review of the Ventura County Superior Court website shows the suspect has been arrested six times in the past two years for various charges including petty theft, drug possession, obstructing officers, being under the influence of drugs, and possession of stolen property, police said.
