Weekend fire rips through Santa Barbara Westside home
Seven people were displaced from their Santa Barbara home over the weekend after a fire ripped through the single-family house.
No one was hurt and everyone was able to get out of the home safely before Santa Barbara City firefighters arrived. It only took fire crews about 11 minutes to extinguish the blaze but officials say the fire caused approximately $100,000 in damages.
The fire broke out shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday in the 1700 block of San Andres Street in Santa Barbara with smoke visible for several blocks.
Fire officials say the home did not have working smoke detectors and encourage everyone to have a smoke detector in every room and check their working frequently.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
