Hit-and-run driver plows into Oxnard home, police searching for driver

Police are searching for a driver after crashing a car into a house in Oxnard early Monday morning.

It happened shortly after 1 a.m. on the 600 block of West Bard Street. About 90% of the car was inside the home, police said. No one inside the home was injured.

The driver ran away from the scene before police arrived, according to the Oxnard Police Department.

Oxnard police say evidence shows the vehicle was traveling northbound on F Street and failed to stop for the “Stop” sign at the T-intersection of Bard Road. The driver then continued traveling straight through the intersection, onto the residential property, and crashed through the living room wall, running over a couch.

All occupants of the home are now displaced after the Building and Safety Department red-tagged the building due to what police are calling “structural instability.”

Anyone with information on the driver’s whereabouts or this case is encouraged to call the Oxnard Police Department.
