Nipomo man threatens to “shoot up” convalescent home

Police have arrested a Nipomo man who threatened to “shoot up” a convalescent home in Santa Maria on Thursday.

Employees at a convalescent home in Santa Maria called police around 3:47 p.m. saying 56-year old Robert Clement from Nipomo had called and yelled profanities over more than one phone call before threatening to show up and “shoot up the place.”

Police say Clement was angry over his perceived lack of care for his elderly mother by staff. An employee called 911 out of fear that Clement would follow through with his threats.

Police served a search and arrest warrant for Clement, who lives in a trailer on his brother’s property in Nipomo. Police found several firearms registered to him.

Clement was arrested and booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail.
