Detectives seize three pounds of cocaine and AK-47 in El Rio bust

Two El Rio men were arrested Monday after Ventura County detectives caught them with large amounts of cocaine, cash, and firearms including an AK-47.

According to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, detectives pulled over 27-year-old Nestor Rodriguez in El Rio Monday after suspecting him of selling cocaine to members of the community. That’s when detectives discovered half a pound of cocaine in his backseat. Nestor was arrested on scene.

Detectives then searched Nestor’s home on the 800 block of Will Avenue in El Rio. Detectives determined another occupant of the residence, 20-year-old Anthony Rodriguez was also in possession of cocaine, and several firearms including an AK-47. Anthony Rodriguez was then arrested for possessing cocaine, while in possession of loaded operable firearms, deputies said. In all, detectives seized 3.2 pounds of cocaine, seven firearms and a significant amount of money believed to be proceeds from narcotics sales. The cocaine seized has an estimated street value of $116,000.00 to $145,000.00. Nestor Rodriguez and Anthony Rodriguez were both booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility, deputies said.
