Authorities track down wanted felon to storage facility in Santa Maria

Authorities tracked a wanted felon to a storage facility in the 300 block of Roemer Way in Santa Maria on Oct. 12 and took him into custody.

The AB109 Compliance Response Team (CRT), composed of Sheriff’s deputies and probation officers, conducted an investigation into the whereabouts of 35-year old Erik Duran, a post-sentencing supervision offender.

Duran, a convicted felon from Santa Maria, had a no bail warrant out for his arrest for not following the terms of his probation, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

CRT found Duran inside the rear cargo area of a vehicle parked near the storage facility. The Sheriff’s Office says Duran ran away from investigators starting a brief foot pursuit that eventually ended with Duran’s arrest.

Investigators arrested Duran for possession of meth for sale, heroin for sale, possession of a loaded firearm with narcotics, ammunition, brass knuckles, resisting arrest, and violating probation.
