Documented gang member caught with loaded gun and drugs

A documented gang member from Oxnard was arrested Thursday after he was caught with drugs and a firearm.

According to the Oxnard Police Department, officers pulled over 28-year-old Jose Viveros at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Hueneme Road Thursday afternoon and determined he was intoxicated.

After searching Viveros’ car, officers found a loaded .45 caliber glock 30 handgun, methamphetamine, heroin, Xanax pills, drug paraphernalia and a large amount of cash.

Viveros is a documented gang member in the City of Oxnard, has prior convictions for possession of ammunition and possession of controlled substances for sale which makes him a prohibited person, police said.
