Violent domestic dispute leads to injuries at a Santa Barbara hotel

A bloody domestic dispute in a downtown Santa Barbara hotel Saturday night left one man injured and a couple under arrest.

It happened about 9:30 p.m. near the corner of State and Cota Streets.

Santa Barbara police received a call from a man saying he was being assaulted and needed help. He said he was bleeding significantly from the neck.

Police rushed to the scene within moments with several patrol units, backed up by Santa Barbara Fire and AMR. Staff at the front counter assisted police into the room without delay.

The male victim’s wound to his neck was treated in the room and he was taken out by police in handcuffs. A woman was also taken away by police and appeared to be unhurt. She was put in the back of a patrol car heading to the station for an investigation.

It’s unclear what was used to cause the cut on the neck.

Guests at the hotel were delayed briefly. One person who found out it was isolated to this couple in their room said she was not worried about the situation and had enjoyed her evening downtown otherwise.
