CAL FIRE set to begin prescribed pile burning in Cambria Oct. 2

CAL FIRE San Luis Obispo is letting residents know that they will begin periodically burning vegetation piles along Cambria Pine Drive starting Oct. 2, 2018.

“We plan to conduct these burns with as little smoke impact to the surrounding homes and communities as
possible,” said CAL FIRE Division Chief Alan Peters in a statement. “It is going to require multiple days of low intensity burning over the next couple months to achieve that.”

There are approximately 450 small piles of cut vegetation that need to be burned as a result of months of fire crews cutting overgrown brush along Cambria Pines Drive and Highway 1 — part of a hazardous fuel reduction project.

CAL FIRE will have two engines onsite during all burn operations, which will begin as weather conditions permit.
