Cal Poly falls to #17 Montana at home

Despite fighting its way back into the game in the second half, Cal Poly dropped its second straight game as #17 Montana came away with a 48-28 victory on Saturday.

The Mustangs were hoping for an upset and a win at home, but fell behind 17-0 early. Joe Protheroe rushed for 139 yards and three touchdowns for Cal Poly, which fell to 1-4 on the year and 0-2 in Big Sky play.

Montana improved to 4-1 on the season. The Grizzlies are now 2-0 in conference play.

Cal Poly continues Big Sky play at Sacramento State next week.
