Man pleads guilty to 2013 fatal shooting near Ventura County Fairgrounds

The man responsible for the shooting of 18-year old Gabriel Gutierrez near the Ventura County Fairgrounds back in 2103 has pleaded guilty.

Timothy Scott Adams from Ventura pled guilty on Tuesday to one count of voluntary manslaughter for his involvement in the shooting of Gutierrez on July 31, 2013, near the fairgrounds.

Adams was 17-years old at the time of the killing and said it was for the benefit of a criminal street gang.

In 2017, Judge Kevin McGee decided that Adams should be tried as an adult for this crime.

Adams also pled guilty to a second count of threatening a witness on April 25, 2016, when Adams was an adult.

Adams’ sentencing is set for November 27, 2018, at 9:00 a.m. in courtroom 12 at the Ventura County Superior Court. Adams will be sentenced to serve a term of 22 years in prison.

Investigators have identified the victim in the shooting outside the Ventura County Fairgrounds.
