UCSB women’s soccer falls at home to Santa Clara

UCSB women’s soccer dropped its second straight match on Sunday afternoon, losing 2-0 to Santa Clara.

The Gauchos were also shut out for the second straight game after losing 1-0 at home to Pepperdine on Friday night.

Skylar Smith opened the scoring with a shot into the top right corner of the net to give the Broncos a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute. Kelsey Turnbow scored in the 72nd minute to make it 2-0 Santa Clara.

Goalkeeper Hanna DeWeese had three saves for the Gauchos.

Santa Clara improved to 9-1-1 on the season with the win. The loss dropped UCSB to 7-4-0. The Gauchos will look to bounce back when they host UC Davis on Friday night.
