Police arrest wanted suspect in Shandon crime spree

Authorities in San Luis Obispo County have arrested a Shandon man believed to have been armed and dangerous.

The SLO County Sheriff’s Office says 27-year-old Larry Harvey is a parolee who was wanted in connection with a series of car thefts and a burglary in the Shandon area over the past couple of days.

On Friday, Sheriff’s deputies received a report that Harvey was spotted outside a home in the 100 block of South 7th Street in the town of Shandon, San Luis Obispo County.

When deputies arrived, Harvey ran away after spotting law enforcement beginning a foot chase through the nearby riverbed, into backyards, and through a home, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Harvey was eventually caught near the intersection of Calle Carmelita and E. Centre Street in Shandon.
