Greener Pastures Farm Sanctuary looking for permanent home

Greener Pastures Farm Sanctuary of San Luis Obispo is raising money to buy or lease land for a permanent home for unwanted, neglected or abused farm and ranch animals and save them from being euthanized.

“This is an agricultural area and there’s so many farm animals”, said Greener Pastures Farm Sanctuary founder Diane Dieterich, “sometimes their unwanted or their abused and there’s nowhere for them to go so they end up getting euthanized or they continue to suffer and we want to have a place for those animals to go.”

Animals rescued by Greener Pastures are also used for community outreach programs.

“We open our doors to the public and the kids can come in and spend hands-on time with the animals and then experience the unconditional acceptance and healing that animals naturally give”, Dieterich said, “we all know dogs and cats, farm animals are just as sensitive and loving as dogs and cats at home, we seem to differentiate between farm animals and pets but they are just as loving and sweet as our pets at home.”

Greener Pastures Farm Sanctuary is hosting its annual fundraiser Saturday, September 22 at 6:00 pm at Odd Fellows Hall at 520 Dana Street in San Luis Obispo.

Tickets will be sold at the door.
