Two people injured in Oxnard multi-family home fire

Firefighters are battling a home fire in the 100 block South C Street in the city of Oxnard. At least two victims have been reported.

The fire broke out shortly after 10:00 a.m. in a multi-family home. The billowing smoke could be seen for miles. Over 30 firefighters from the Oxnard Fire Department and the Ventura County Fire Department are on scene trying to isolate the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby homes.

Oxnard Fire Battalion Chief Sergio Martinez said one person suffered smoke inhalation and a second victim had first-degree burns to their hands from trying to help put out the fire and prevent it from extending to a neighbor’s home.

Two victims were treated by paramedics and released.

Fire crews are working to make sure all residents are accounted for and searching for any additional victims that may be inside the home, said Battalion Chief Martinez.

No further details were immediately known. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Check back for details.
