One person hurt after vehicle crashes into Santa Barbara fitness center

Police are investigating a car that crashed into the AC4 Fitness gym in Santa Barbara Wednesday morning.

The incident was reported to police shortly after 7 a.m. The gym is located at 3883 La Cumbre Plaza Lane.

One person was hurt in the crash, police say, when the female driver hit the gas pedal instead of the brake. The injured victim was taken to the hospital for medical attention.

People working out at the time rushed over to help after the car plowed through the front window into the workout area of the gym.

“I think everyone was in shock and it took a few seconds for everyone to realize a car was in the middle of the building. I just reacted and helped the lady out of the car,” said passerby Nick Carver, “There was another gentleman who kind fell over so everyone rushed to help him out. and then we all kind of assisted the lady coming out of the car.”

AC4 Fitness closed for the day but plans to be open for business by 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018.
