Cal Poly Universities share 2019 Rose Parade float design

Since 1949 Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and Pomona Universities have had a float in the Rose Parade.

This will be the 71st year of participation in the Tournament of Roses.

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo shared an artist rendering of their float design Wednesday. The float is titled “Far Out Frequencies”.

It features a pair of astronauts and a handful of alien friends communicating through music. Animation on the float will include an astronaut strumming a guitar, two aliens playing the accordion and another alien interacting with tuba.

The Cal Poly float is the only all-student built float in the parade.

The Rose Parade is held in Pasadena on January 1, 2019, and will be broadcast live on tv starting at 8:00 a.m.
