Twice barricaded suspect arrested in Santa Maria

A Santa Maria man is in jail after authorities found him barricaded inside a bedroom at a home in the 1900 block of Estriga Court in the city of Santa Maria.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office says 35-year-old Saam Massoudi was wanted for violating terms of his probation — being a felon in possession a firearm and possession of methamphetamine for sales.

On Sept. 13, 2018, acting on intelligence from the Compliance Response Team, the CRT, along with assistance from the Sheriff’s office, California Highway Patrol and Sheriff’s K-9 teams, served a search warrant at Massoudi’s home and forced entry before finding Massoudi barricaded in a rear bedroom.

Authorities used a singles less-lethal foam munition on Massoudi after he failed to comply with deputies’ commands, said the Sheriff’s Office. Massoudi was taken into custody after being struck in the torso by the less-lethal munition.

Massoudi was the subject of a prior barricade at that same home in October 2017, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say Massoudi was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, heroin and drug paraphernalia at the time of his arrest. He was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail after being treated at the hospital for an abrasion suffered during the barricaded incident.

Massoudi faces charges of resisting arrest, possession of heroin, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and his arrest warrant. He is being held without bail.
