Santa Maria Wisdom Center finds new home
Daycare services for the elderly, frail and infirm in the Santa Maria Valley and beyond are getting a big boost thanks to big, new modern building.
The new Santa Maria Wisdom Center building has been years in the making for the elderly daycare facility and its parent organization Life Steps Foundation.
The Santa Maria Wisdom Center is the only licensed elderly daycare facility of its type in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties, providing therapeutic and medical monitoring daycare services for seniors with various stages of dementia whom still live at home or with family members.
“A good deal of individuals who come to us daily for the program live at home still at that’s our goal, it’s to keep people in the home”, said Santa Maria Wisdom Center Program Director Linda Gadbois, “it’s very sad when we have people on a wait-list and and we can maybe only give them a day a week, this is going to open up a larger venue of care for families needing our services.”
The new Santa Maria Wisdom Center at 2255 South Depot Street will provide additional space to expand client services and population numbers while offering innovative programs catering to needs of clients with various stages of Alzheimer’s disease.
The new building is mostly complete, and after final inspections and certifications, the Santa Maria Wisdom Center hopes to move into its new home in early 2019.
