Olive Mill Bridge Rail Project leads to overnight detours in Montecito

A project to replace the bridge rails damaged during the Montecito flooding this past January will continue with overnight highway closures this week.

Crews are installating false work or wooden support beams underneath the existing bridge.

Caltrans issued the following detours:

· The southbound lanes and off-ramp to US Highway 101 will be closed at Olive Mill Road on Tuesday, August 28 during the overnight hours from 10 pm until 5 am for tree trimming and to improve sight distance for everyone. Motorists may detour from Olive Mill Road via the Hot Springs Road exit and Coast Village Road.

· The northbound lanes of US Highway 101 will be closed at Olive Mill Road on Tuesday, August 28 during the overnight hours from 10 pm until 5 am. Motorists may detour from Olive Mill Road via the Hot Springs Road exit and Coast Village Road.

· The No. 1 (right) lane of northbound US 101 will be closed from San Ysidro Road to Olive Mill Road on Tuesday, August 28 from 8 pm until 5 am for tree trimming and to improve sight distance for motorists.

· The southbound US 101 off-ramp at San Ysidro Road will be closed on Tuesday, August 28 from 10 pm until 5 am. The southbound US 101 on-ramp at Olive Mill Road will be closed on Wednesday, August 29 from 10 pm until 5 am for tree trimming. This work is expected to be noisy.

· The northbound lanes of US 101 will be closed at Olive Mill Road on Tuesday , Sept. 4 during the overnight hours from 10 pm until 5 am. Motorists may detour from Olive Mill road via Coast Village Road and Hot Springs Road.

· In addition, motorists will encounter one-way reversing traffic control on the Olive Mill Road Overcrossing on Tuesday , Sept. 4 beginning at 9 pm for re-striping and the installation of temporary barriers.

· One-way traffic on Olive Mill Road in a northerly direction towards Coast Village Road on the mountain side of US 101 will begin the morning of Wednesday , Sept. 5 for a four-month period.

· Local traffic may detour by exiting northbound US 101 at San Ysidro Road to access coastal areas. Northbound truck traffic on US 101 is encouraged to use the Milpas Street exit before returning southbound and exiting at Spring Road.

· Residents who live along Danielson Lane will maintain parking in their neighborhood, but parking will be prohibited near the narrow corners to allow residents and large

construction vehicles to safely navigate this area. Motorists and cyclists are encouraged to Share the Road. Caltrans will move at an accelerated pace with construction taking

place Monday through Friday from 7 am until 5 pm and on Saturdays from 8 am until 4 pm.

The $1.2 million project is being one by Granite Construction of Santa Barbara, CA.

Remember to move over and slow down during construction.
