Three LA area residents arrested in Montecito following a reported home burglary

Two men and a woman from Los Angeles County were arrested in Montecito early Monday morning after Sheriff’s deputies responded to a burglary alarm at a home in the 800 block of Lilac Drive.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office says deputies saw a white van parked down the street and blocking half the roadway with a man walking from the area where the alarm went off. Authorities identified the man as 30-year-old Jason Buchanan of North Hollywood.

Deputies detained Buchanan along with two other occupants of the van, 32-year-old Danay Granville and 25-year-old Tyrone O’Neal from the LA area.

During a records check, deputies discovered Buchanan was on parole for burglary, Granville was on post-release community supervision for carjacking, and O’Neal was on probation for a concealed firearm. The Sheriff’s Office says O’Neal also had several active warrants out of Tennessee that were “non-extraditable.”

Deputies found several stolen credit cards and property purchased with those credit cards throughout Southern California during an inspection of the van, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The homeowner on the Aug. 27, 2018 incident did not report any stolen items, according to investigators, but the Sheriff’s Office has contacted one victim who had his credit card stolen out of his car in Ventura, and another victim whose stolen phone was recovered.

Buchanan was booked on charges of possession of burglary tools, receiving known stolen property, and fraudulent use of a stolen access card.

Granville was booked on charges of loitering on private property, obstruction of a public officer, fraudulent use of an access card and receiving known stolen property.

O’Neal was booked on charges of receiving known property.

Bail was set at $20,000 each. The Sheriff’s Office says it is also recommending the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office file conspiracy charges.
