The Thrown Down Cornhole Tournament coincides with end of summer block party

Some of best cornhole players in the nation and perhaps the world competed in The Throw Down hosted by Spencer Makenzie’s in Ventura.

The game or sport involves teams of players throwing bean bags at cornhole boards. Bags tossed in the hole score the highest points.

More than 220 teams took part in the 3-day tournament during the annual end of summer block party near the corner of E.Thompson Blvd. and Ash St.

Every year winners take home cash payouts.

Team Local Bags took 1st Place. Team members Cody Henderson and Adam Hissner of Ohio will share the $6,000 prize.

Participants including Bryan Villalobos said he will be back to compete again. He said he enjoys the cornhole company and the fish tacos Spencer Makenzie’s is known for making on the spot.
