Gunshot victim dies from injuries in Oxnard

Juan Cerda died on Friday after being shot in the head on August 13 by an unknown suspect.

On August 13, Oxnard Police responded to a report of a shooting victim in the 5300 block of South J Street around 10:22 p.m. When officers arrived they located 40-year old Cerda who had a gunshot in his head. Cerda was rushed to the hospital and underwent surgery. At that time, Cerda was in extremely critical condition.

On August 24, Cerda died from complications due to his injuries. His body was transported to the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office. Cerda’s death is being investigated as a homicide.

Oxnard Police confirm that this is the twelfth homicide this year in the City of Oxnard.

The City Oxnard is offering a reward of $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of any individuals responsible for committing homicides within the city.
