Scam Alert: Scam calls claiming to be from Sheriff’s Office being reported in Ventura County

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office is alerting the community about a phone scam being reported by residents in which the caller claims a loved one is in custody and needs to be bailed out.

Authorities say the calls come from the number 805-233-7560, and when called, the number has a recorded message with an answering service claiming to be the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.”

The Sheriff’s Office says this is not a working number for the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office. The actual phone number for their dispatch center is 805-654-9511.

“The fraudulent phone calls from 805-233-7560 are absolutely a scam with someone trying to fraudulently get money from the public. Our investigators are working on tracking the source of the phone number. In the meantime, we want residents to be aware of this and avoid becoming a victim of this scam,” stated a Nixle alert from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.
