Surf shops ride wave of warm ocean water-related business

The summer of 2018 may be remembered as the summer surfers didn’t need to don wetsuits to stay warm.

Ocean water temperatures have been well above average.

Surf shop owners don’t seem to mind. Surf shops are riding a wave of warm water business.

Channel Islands Surfboards’ assistant manager Dallas Dufrene said customers who want to cover up are buying alternatives to full body wetsuit.

They are also buying sunscreen, board shorts, bikinis and towels.
