UCSB Dominates Westmont 7-0 in Season-Opening Exhibition

After dropping last year’s season-opening exhibition match against Westmont, UCSB Men’s Soccer wanted to regain local bragging rights to open the 2018 season.

The Gauchos made that feat look easy on Saturday night.

UCSB dominated Westmont from start to finish en route to a 7-0 victory at Harder Stadium. Ignacio Tellechea and Thibault Candia each scored two goals for the Gauchos, who led 5-0 at halftime. The Gauchos scored four goals during a five minute stretch in the first half to put the game out of reach.

The Gauchos play their first official game of the season Friday when they host St. John’s. Westmont plays its next game Wednesday at UC Merced.
