Foodie Fork Fest taste-off raises money for Autism research and aid programs

A taste of Santa Barbara restaurants – in tiny fork bites – was part of a fundraiser over the weekend in a Presidio Neighborhood parking lot as part of the annual Fork Fest.

The Fork Fest was called a foodie fork off. It was held in the Canon Perdido parking lot near the Presidio Saturday. Those attending received a small wooden fork and a guide sheet for them to use as a tasting tour of the property, followed by a chance to choose their favorite bite in a tasting competition.

The restaurants represented included the Bluewater Grill, Goodland Hotel, Rudy’s, Oat bakery, Patxi pizza, Hippy Pop, Spudnuts and Buena Onda.

Many had their chefs or General Managers on site to meet the participants.

Several beverage distributors were on hand too including Figueroa Mountain Brewing, M-Special, Brass Bear, Cutler’s spirits, Presidio Neighborhood wineries, Test Pilot, and Shaker Mill.

In the middle of the event was a ping-pong table that got a lot of play along with some assorted games on the side of the lot.

At the end of the event, the totals were calculated and the Bluewater Grill won with its Ponzu sea scallops in a decorative shell.

A portion of the proceeds went to Autism Care and Treatment (ACT Today!) a nonprofit to help families that have children with autism. The organization raises awareness and provides treatment service.
