SCE hosts meetings to discuss Public Safety Power Shutoff Protocol

Southern California Edison is working to strengthen infrastructure and prevent equipment from sparking future fires.

The company hosted the first of two local meetings to explain plans to de -energize customers when fire danger is high.

SCE is sharing its Public Safety Power Shutoff protocol. SCE will notify customers before a planned shutoff and they may also sign up for “Outage Alerts” at https://SCE.com

SÇE engineers said a quarter of their 9 million acre service territory is located in high fire danger areas.

The company is partnering with fire agencies and promoting aggressive pruning of trees and plants around power lines.

Safety tips during outages include; using backup equipment for people with medical conditions, disconnecting sensitive electronics before a planned outage and making sure gas generators are only used safely outdoors.
