‘Northrop Grumman’ relocates to Oxnard bringing hundreds of jobs

One of the world’s largest aerospace and defense technology companies now calls Oxnard home. Northrop Grumman relocated their business from Goleta and Carpinteria to Oxnard.

Northrop Grumman relocated to a bigger location. The new 140,000-square-feet facility is located on Camino Del Sol.

“They have some presence here locally at the Naval Base Ventura County, and also in Port Hueneme,” said Bryan McDonald, Oxnard Councilman. “But this is a new facility where they are going to design instruments for the air force and things of that nature.”

The company says they’re designing unmanned aircraft that can patrol the ground and sea. They also say they are developing solutions that prevent cyber threats from becoming cyber attacks, and they are discovering trends to stay ahead of disease outbreaks.

The company is looking to hire nearly 300 people.

“It’s huge,” said McDonald. “We talk about people having disposable income and that is kind of the way the world works is that if you have good paying jobs, and local people occupying them they are more limited to paying money locally. It helps improve the economy so we will see a huge benefit from it.”

Santa Barbara County employees relocated to Oxnard last month. Northrop Grumman hopes to employ a full staff by next year. Oxnard city leaders see this as a step in the right direction to bring more business to Oxnard.

“If you bring in a corporation or business and help them grow and become bigger, they create other job opportunities for suppliers and vender,” said McDonald. “So I think we are going to see a huge increase in our aerospace industry because they are going to attract other customers and other business here.”
