Crews battle fire near Lake Casitas

UPDATE: 5:00 p.m.: A Ventura County Public Information Officer says the fire has been holding at 15 acres with no structures threatened.

Fire Officials say there are reports of 2 firefighters with minor injuries.

UPDATE: 4:00 p.m.: Fire officials say the fire is holding at 15 acres.

Captain Mike Lindbery confirms that one firefighter suffered minor injuries while fighting the fire.

Fire officials say 13 people were evacuated as a precaution.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

UPDATE: 3:30 p.m.: Fire crews say the main body of the fire has slowed down.

Crews are battling a vegetation fire near Lake Casitas.

Ventura County Fire responded to reports of brush on fire near the 14200 block of De La Garrigue Road, Casitas Pass near Lake Casitas in Ojai around 2:10 p.m.

Viewers have called in saying they could see a large plume of smoke in the area.

Firefighters are on scene say the fire is about 5-7 acres burning in medium fuels with 5-10 mph winds. No reports of structures are threatened at this time.

Bulldozers and air tankers have been called to assist in this situation.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
