Colorful dresses shown off at Fiesta Pequena dress rehearsal
La Fiesta Pequeña dress rehearsal is not mentioned in the official Old Spanish Days program but it is the best-kept secret in Santa Barbara.
Parents covered the Mission lawn with chairs and blankets to watch the rehearsal on the steps of the Old Mission Santa Barbara.
The outfits change every year and this year they are as colorful as ever.
There are also pants, polka-dots, satin, and sequins.
Daniela Zermeno Sanchez said she had her heart set on red dresses but then saw a bolt of blue and changed her mind. She designed the dressed that will be worn by the Zermeno Dance Academy all week and credits seamstress Maria Lazcano with making them.
She said the dances cost about $400 each.
Fiesta Pequena will be broadcast live on KEYT NewsChannel 3 on Wednesday at 8 p.m.
