High Temps cause partial outage at Mid-State Fair

Triple-digit temperatures may be to blame for the brief power outage experienced at the Mid-State Fair on Tuesday afternoon.

Fair spokesperson Tom Keffury says the Fair experienced a brief and partial power failure that affected a handful of buildings and pavilions lasting a little more than an hour starting at 4:30 p.m.

“The safety of patrons and animals is our first priority, and our staff, along with PG&E, worked diligently and effectively to restore full power. We are also equipped with backup generators and were prepared for the minor failure. In addition, tonight’s Main Grandstand show with Tim McGraw and Faith Hill went off without a hitch,” said CEO Michael Bradley.

PG&E said the high temperatures caused the localized outage. In a statement, PG&E said that their crews responded safely and quickly to restore electricity to the affected areas which included the Mid-State Fair.

“We are using the latest technology to receive accurate and timely outage data, and to restore power more quickly and efficiently,” said PG&E.

PG&E says to help reduce the load on the system and improve reliability during the heat, customers are encouraged to conserve energy.
