Buellton family displaced after home catches on fire

A Buellton family has been displaced after their home caught on fire Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to the 300 block of Arden Avenue at about 4:40 p.m. to a single story family home. The first firefighters to arrive were confronted with heavy smoke coming from the back of the house, according to Santa Barbara County Fire Department Capt. Dave Zaniboni.

Zaniboni said the fire started in the bedroom and extended to the hallway of the house. Thanks to an aggressive attack by firefighters, the blaze was contained to the bedroom and hallway.

There were two children and an adult inside the home at the time of the fire but they were able to escape by the time firefighters arrived at the scene.

The home suffered smoke and water damage. Building inspectors with the city of Buellton are on scene. The Red Cross will be assisting the family with this incident.

Fire officials do not yet know what caused this fire. The incident remains under investigation.
