Ice Cream Parlor robbery in Ventura

A Ben and Jerry’s ice cream parlor was robbed Thursday night in Ventura.

Ventura Police received a 9-1-1 call for a robbery at the Ben and Jerry’s at 523 East Main Street around 10:34 p.m.

The ice cream parlor clerk says that the suspect, Scott Russell, 35, a vagrant from Ventura, entered the store and demanded money while armed with a gun.

Police say the clerk gave Russell the money from behind the register and then Russell fled the scene on foot.

Officer arrived a few moments later and located Russell a short distance away. During a short foot pursuit, Russell was dropping money taken from the business.

Russell was taken into custody without incident and was booked at the Ventura County Jail for robbery.
