Lompoc fire responds to ‘suspicious’ structure fire

An investigation is underway after a structure fire in Lompoc Saturday morning is deemed to be suspicious in nature.

Lompoc Fire responded to a structure fire at 710 N Second Street around 1:07 a.m. When crews arrived on scene they found a large debris pile on fire with flames extending to a detached garage unit.

The fire was extinguished in about twenty minutes. Fire crews say there was no one in the home and appeared to be vacant with no fire damage.

According to Battalion Chief Brian Federmann, the cause of the fire is considered to be suspicious in nature.

The detached garage to the south at 706 N Second Street also sustained fire damage to the eves, exterior wall and window.

A damage report indicates the fire caused $500 in contents and $10,000 in property damage.
