A four-legged surfer catches waves at Surf Rodeo in Ventura

When you mix the cowboy spirit with surfing, you get the Surf Rodeo. The weekend event drew a huge crowd on its first day when the surf contest and bikini contest got underway.

Music fans filled Pierpont Beach near the Ventura Keys neighborhood. They had a chance to enjoy 30 bands scheduled to perform on opposing stages in the sand.

Visitors also had a chance to try to stay on a mechanical bull.

On Sunday, a dog caught some waves during an exhibition that included tandem surfing.

The tandem surfers included Walk on Water volunteers who took special needs children out for some Surf Therapy.

The annual Surf Rodeo is located at the end of Seaward Avenue where a portion of the road was closed for a beachfront street fair. Visitors got a chance to win a car being raffled off to benefit the Boys and Girls Club.

The annual Surf Rodeo wrapped up around sunset each night.
