Santa Barbara County Fair opens today

There are new attractions to thrill and chill visitors to this year’s Santa Barbara County Fair at the Santa Maria Fairpark that runs from Wednesday, July 11 through Sunday, July 15.

Education is behind a live shark exhibit making its debut at the Santa Barbara County Fair.

Divers are in a tank with nurse sharks, known for their docile and playful behavior, providing onlookers with a unique, up-close shark experience.

A carousel and other rides from late pop star Michael Jackson’s famed Neverland Ranch will be part of the County Fair carnival rides which are always a popular attraction.

In keeping with County Fair tradition, there’s the livestock exhibit and Junior Livestock Auction with animals raised by youngsters involved in local 4-H and FFA clubs.

Don’t forget all the different food booths and merchandise vendors who’ve been busy preparing for the arrival of anticipated large crowds starting Wednesday through Sunday night.

Free, live music with the price of admission includes scheduled performances by Smashmouth, Trace Adkins, Kool And The Gang and Sheila E.

Santa Maria Police will be stepping up traffic safety patrols around the Santa Maria Fairpark to ensure everyone gets to and from the County Fair safely.

Gates open at Noon Wednesday at the Santa Maria Fairpark.
